Admissions Overview and Instructions

The admissions process includes a visit with the Head of School and a tour of the classrooms in session.  For Kindergarten age, Elementary and Intermediate students, the admissions process also includes a visit by the child to the appropriate classroom.  Siblings of currently enrolled students as well as children with previous Montessori background are given priority.

The Application

The Application Form along with a $25 Application Fee must be submitted before scheduling an interview and tour.

Parent Interview and Observation

When we receive your application, we will contact you to schedule a visit.  Parent interviews and observations are held on designated days and will last approximately one hour.

Age Guideline

Applicants should be three years old before starting school.

Recommendations and Transcript

Elementary and Intermediate students only: Teacher recommendations and transcript should be sent directly from the applicant’s current school or teacher.  Forms for requesting this information will be provided at the time of the interview.

Testing

No testing is required.  Your child may be invited to spend a day or part thereof in an age appropriate classroom and work with the class.

Acceptance and Enrollment

Upon acceptance, return the completed Enrollment Contract and other requested documents, along with a non-refundable Enrollment Deposit of $500 by the requested date, to secure a space for your child.  Contracts received after the deadline will be accepted subject to availability.

Re-Enrollment and Deposits

Each subsequent year, Re-enrollment Contracts will be offered on February 1 and due March 1.  Enrollment deposits will be returned in April of the last year that your child is enrolled at Butler School.   If you do not wish to Re-enroll, you must notify the school in writing by March 1 for the deposit to be returned – otherwise it is non-refundable.

Financial Assistance Policy

Butler School offers a limited amount of financial assistance to qualified Elementary and Intermediate students.  We use the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) which is the standard tool that private schools in the area use to determine the expected family contribution.  In addition, there is a Butler School Application for Financial Assistance form that addresses a family’s expected costs and asks the family to estimate what total amount they would be able to pay for the school year.  Decisions regarding financial awards are made during the month of April.
