Equestrian
We aspire to develop complete horsemen according to each rider’s individual goals. Many riders find it difficult to own a horse due to the cost of ownership and commitments that prevent daily maintenance and exercise. Butler offers the opportunity to develop a close relationship between horse and rider, and to care for and compete a horse without the commitment of horse ownership. Over the years we have come to appreciate that the happiest horses are those that are handled by familiar individuals. All riders at Level 2 and above are assigned their own horse to groom, tack and ride. A personal locker for your equipment is also assigned at Level 2. During the summer months, Butler Camp provides young riders with the opportunity to participate in an intensive daily equestrian program with a wide variety of activities.
Our Philosophy….
is to teach far more than how to ride a horse. Our students learn to understand equine behavior and basic horse care. We also highly encourage and nurture the emotional connection formed between horse and rider.
Our Facilities…
include barns, tack rooms, and indoor and outdoor arenas situated on 22 wooded acres, with miles of trails and cross country fields.
Our Horses…
range from steady ponies to quality show horses. They spend their down time grazing with their herd mates on 40 lush acres of green pastures. Butler horses are happy, healthy, loved and truly enjoy their jobs.
Our Year-Round Lesson Program…
includes beginner to advanced riders with a maximum class size of 6 riders. Each rider is expertly partnered with a horse matching their capabilities. Whether your interest lies in beginner riding, vaulting, or the competitive show circuits, we have the right horse waiting for you.
Our Vaulting Program...
is a unique way to develop coordination, balance, strength, creativity and horsemanship skills. Most movements are learned and practiced on a stationary “barrel” first. The horse is on a lunge line controlled by a trainer from the ground, adding an extra measure of safety to this fun sport.
Butler Equestrian programs are open to the public for ages 6 to 99! We have miles of trails, a large indoor riding ring and multiple outdoor riding rings. No Horse…….No Problem! Our riders and vaulters train on quality horses assigned according to the students’ ability and experience. Moving Up? No Problem! Our horses range from genuine school masters to national level competition horses. Want your own Horse? No Problem! Our riders are designated one particular horse to train on…and love.
