Annual Giving

Make A Gift 2022 – 2023 Annual Report

Every Gift Matters…

The Friends & Family Annual Giving campaign is the backbone of our fundraising efforts. It’s what helps us sustain our high standards and offer an exceptional education to our students. In addition, as with most independent schools, it allows us to keep tuition affordable for families bridging the gap between the actual cost of running our school and tuition. Annual Giving helps to:

  • Offer competitive salaries and professional development opportunities to retain and attract the highest caliber teachers
  • Update and expand our academic curriculum and offer a wide array of extracurricular activities
  • Maintain reasonable and competitive tuition levels
  • Upgrade technology, purchase educational classroom materials and maintain facilities
  • Sustain the vitality of our school on a daily basis

Annual Giving runs from mid-October through December 31st. Our goal this year is 100% current family participation in the Friends & Family Annual Giving program.  Every gift, no matter the size, helps students of today and tomorrow thrive. Make a gift today and help us reach our goal!

Gifts to the Friends & Family Annual Giving campaign may be made in a variety of ways. Whatever the size of the gift or how the contribution is made to Butler Montessori, each and every gift is valued and of vital importance to the school’s mission. All gifts made to Annual Giving are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Butler Montessori is a 501 c (3) nonprofit organization and our tax ID number is 521191109.

Recurring Gifts:
When you choose to make a recurring gift, you become a sustaining donor to Butler Montessori, helping to ensure our financial and operational stability so that we can focus on the positive experience and well-being of our students.

Matching Gifts
Many companies match the philanthropic contributions of their employees. The donor obtains a form from their employer’s personnel office and can include the form with the Friends & Family Annual Giving gift. The school will submit the form and a check is sent directly to Butler Montessori. Upon receipt of the matching gift, the donor is notified. Also, all matching gifts are counted towards a donor’s membership in one of Butler Montessori’s Giving Circles. To find out if your employer provides matching gifts to educational institutions, contact your personnel office.

Gifts-In-Kind
In addition to their cash contributions, many families give gifts-in-kind. These may include professional services such as printing or carpentry and items such as computers, furniture, or artwork. These gifts-in-kind are another way to help support Butler Montessori and they are always used and appreciated.

Appreciated Securities
Securities and mutual funds that have increased in value and been held for more than one year are one of the most popular assets to use when making a gift. Making a gift of securities or mutual funds to us offers you the chance to support our work while realizing important benefits for yourself.  Please contact the school for more information on gifting securities.

Gift of Planning
Making a legacy gift through a bequest provision or another type of planned gift is a way to express your belief in Butler Montessori’s mission and invest in the school’s future. Please contact the Business Office for more information.

Reward Programs
Join our store reward programs at Giant, Harris Teeter, and Amazon. We also participate in Box Tops for Education.

Butler Montessori has established store reward programs. Please sign up for the Harris Teeter and AmazonSmile programs. These are the most effortless fundraising programs that will in turn benefit our students. While you shop for groceries and more, these programs supply monies back to Butler Montessori for valuable school needs.

Harris Teeter Together in Education Program
The Harris Teeter Program runs from August to July and you must re-register your card every year. Sign up today for the Together in Education Program. Fill out the required information, including Butler Montessori’s School Code TIE62660. What is Butler Montessori’s Friends & Family Annual Giving Campaign and how are funds used?
The Friends & Family Annual Giving campaign is the cornerstone of Butler Montessori’s fundraising efforts. It closes the gap between tuition revenue and operating expenses, and contributes to and enhances many features of the school: field trips and on-site programs, facilities improvements, professional development and competitive salaries for our teachers, and more. Annual Giving begins late October and ends December 31. All contributions, regardless of size, are gratefully received.

Students already pay tuition, why have Annual Giving?
The Friends & Family Annual Giving campaign provides critical support to the operating budget of our school.  Like other independent schools, Butler Montessori depends on the generosity of our community of parents, grandparents, friends, and alumni to fund our mission and bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating every student. Butler Montessori provides its students with an exceptional, customized education enabling each student to achieve his or her greatest potential while striving to keep tuition reachable for those who choose a Montessori Education.

How important is it to participate in Annual Giving? I support the school in other ways.
Butler Montessori is thrilled and thankful to have highly engaged alumni, families, neighbors, equestrian friends, campers, teachers and staff, Trustees, and special friends that routinely support the school with their time, talent, and treasure.

As an organization that seeks grants and external fundraising opportunities, it is important to demonstrate that those who know Butler Montessori best – our current families, teachers, staff, and Board of Trustees – generously support the school by participating in Annual Giving. Our Board of Trustees, Faculty and Staff have generously committed to 100% participation. Our participation goal for current families is 100% – and you can make a difference. Please help us reach our goal by making a gift today!

How much should I give?
This is a varied and personal decision. We ask that each person and/or family make a gift that is personally significant to them. Every gift is helpful and welcome. Every student benefits from your gift, small and large. We receive gifts ranging from $5 to $10,000. However, you determine what your family can comfortably give and no gift is too small.

Does participation in Annual Giving impact the ability to apply for and/or receive financial aid?
No, Annual Giving is completely separate from and has absolutely no impact on financial aid applications or awards.

Is my gift tax-deductible?  If so, will I get a receipt?

Yes, Butler Montessori is a 501(c)3 organization and as such, all gifts are 100% tax-deductible.  Butler Montessori will send you a receipt for tax purposes within two weeks of receipt of your gift.

What is a Matching Gift?
A number of companies support the philanthropy of their employees with a Matching Gift program. Please check with your employer to see if the company has a matching gift program. To participate, obtain a matching gift form from your Human Resources Department and send it in with your gift. Our staff can help if you have any questions.

What other fundraising does Butler Montessori conduct in addition to the Friends and Family Annual Giving Campaign?
In addition to the fall Friends and Family Annual Giving campaign, Butler Montessori has one other major fundraiser in the spring each year. The Annual Giving campaign provides resources for day-to-day operations, while our Spring Fundraiser is geared toward raising funds to provide resources by which we grow.

Butler Montessori also actively pursues appropriate grants.

Smaller amounts of funding are collected through our Rewards Programs with Amazon Smile and Harris Teeter. In years past the BPC has hosted an annual Book Fair, Restaurant Nights, and other community-friendly activities.

Who should I contact if I have questions?
