Admissions Process

Step 1: For Lower School, (6-weeks – 6th Grade) Schedule A Virtual Information Session
Begin your journey with Butler Montessori by scheduling a Virtual Information Session. Led by an AMI-trained Montessori Guide, this session will introduce you to our school’s philosophy, programs, and community. This step is a prerequisite for the In-Person Tour for all programs except Intermediate and High School.

Step 1: For Upper School (7th – 12th Grade) is an In- Person Tour

Step 2: In-Person Tour
After our Virtual Information Session, dive deeper with an in-person tour of our stunning 22-acre campus. See our classrooms come alive, witness our Guides (teachers) and students in action, and interact with our faculty. Ask your questions and get personalized answers – all while experiencing our community firsthand.

For all programs, this step is a prerequisite for the application.

Step 3: Application
After your in-person visit, you will receive a link to the Admissions Application.

Please note there is a $100 application fee.

Submitting an application is an important step in the admissions process, though it does not ensure acceptance.

Step 4: Interview
Following receipt of the application, if it appears there is a mutual fit between your family and Butler Montessori:

  • Depending on availability, you will be contacted to schedule an in-person admissions interview for parents. The interview process allows families to learn more about Butler Montessori, ask questions, and determine whether the school is a good fit for their child. Please note childcare is not available during this time.
  • For families applying for Kindergarten and up; a classroom visit and an educational screening will be scheduled for the child.

Step 5: Notification of Acceptance
Once the admissions interview and student visit are completed, the school will notify your family regarding acceptance.

Step 6: Enrollment
If your child is offered admission, you will receive an email with a link to our parent portal. Follow the instructions to complete the enrollment contract along with a $1,500 deposit to secure your child’s place at our school. This deposit will be returned upon graduation or withdrawal in accordance with your enrollment contract.

Special Considerations

Priority Applicants
Siblings of currently enrolled students, as well as children with a previous Montessori background, are given priority to the limited number of spaces we have in our classrooms. Part of what makes this model so successful is the long-term process of education and growth that Montessori is famous for. We have a commitment to our community to ensure its success by doing everything we can to create a diverse and stable environment.

Tuition Assistance / Financial Aid

The Tuition Assistance Committee’s mission is to allow every committed family access to an affordable Montessori Education. The Committee awards Tuition Assistance considering several factors, including the family’s need as reported through the Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) application, Butler Montessori’s Tuition Assistance budget, as well as other pertinent information.

In line with our mission and dedication to our families, Butler Montessori is committed to maintaining affordable tuition. Guided by fiscal responsibility and the Board's oversight, we stand as one of the most financially accessible choices among independent and Montessori schools in the Washington, DC metro area.

For questions about financial assistance, please email Scott Chidakel at [email protected].
